When conducting an experiment with Statsig, you may encounter a warning stating 'Event metrics do not have data.' This warning is designed to ensure that there are participants in your gate or experiment who have also had some event logged for them. It serves as a validation that the users in the experiment have corresponding metrics that exist for them.
This warning can be triggered during the initial stages of an experiment, especially when all components of Statsig, such as the SDK and experiment configurations, are deployed simultaneously. It is important to note that there is a waiting period after the gate gets modified, and it may take some time for the system to recognize that users have been exposed to the experiment and have logged events.
The warning is expected to resolve once the system detects overlap between users in the experiment and the logged events, which can take up to an hour after the events have been logged.
For most metrics, computation occurs on a daily basis, and results will be available the following day. However, for 'event_count' type metrics, leading indicators can be computed and may be visible in about an hour.
If you encounter this warning, it is advisable to wait for the system to update and check if the warning persists before taking further action.
